If you are a punter, an escort, work in the sex industry or like following the punting trade then you will have heard about the latest from Harriet Harman. Lets go back abit first and highlight what this Labour MP has been trying to do over the past year or two. Her political strategy is to help raise women from the dead as she puts it by decreasing the pay gaps that women suffer from and to ulimately eliminate prostitution from the UK.

She has gone to large strides in her political moves to try and suggest that the UK needs to make prostitution (punting) illegal where the punter is charged for the offence in an almost hilarious attempt to make it look like the prostitute was the one being harmed. She also points out that although the act of ’sex for money’ has been around since the beginning of time it is about time that women were stopped being degraded and in the new times the only way to do this is by removing prostitution.

If we go back in time, you will realise that it was the working girls who made parts of the UK like London what it is today. Nobody tried to do anything about what two consenting adults want to do back then and why should someone try and change things today? Secondly, we have to applause Harriet Harmen on one thing and that is to erradicate the use of trafficked women in this industry and she should concentrate her efforts on eliminating this before it enters our UK borders. Lastly, she seems to be on another planet when it comes to what women are able to achieve in Britain and she tries to portray them as people who are very vulnerable. Just like men, all women in todays society have a chance to be successful and I do not think that prostitution is the first thing that comes to every womans mind.

Now back to this weeks circus that Harriet Harmen has opened this week and that is to try and use Arnold Schwarzenegger to try and close down the site Punternet which is used to find escorts and massage parlours through reviews. I wonder how they will try and achieve this? She says that only Punternet is fuelling the prostitution industry although many know that there are many other sites of similar nature and size. Why would Schwarzenegger want to close down a UK focused site (servers in California) when he has not closed down sites in his own back yard? Does she really think that you can close down the site when all you have to do is move it to another country?

We have to question her politics because they only show two things….. she wants attention or she knows nothing about the prostitution industry.

Not sure if any one has read this in the papers but it seems that debts and the recession can consume anyone regardless if even you are well paid. So, for many of you punters you have probably paid from anywhere between £30, £150 to perhaps the max of £400 an hour. While the UK government tries to ban prostitution on the UK their opposition, that Tories, show how much they love prostitution and have some of their elite bench members snorting cocaine and sleeping with high end black prostitutes such as Natalie Rowe.

The real question is, if the Tories ever come into power will they help the sex trade grow as they are so fond of it themselves?

Lambeth Council backs plans for South London newspapers to ban sex ads especially those that promote prostitution which fuels the influx of many foriegn trafficked women. It is thought that 40% of all men that seek street prostitutes also use the newspaper as their main means of obtaining other escorts and prostitutes that work in massage parlours and escort agencies.

Recent stats also show that almost 80% of street prostitutes are not UK nationals and the majority are trafficked into the country and forced to work in the sex trade. Banning the newspaper sex ads is thought to have a positive effect in putting a small dent into the illegal trade of exploited women as the criminals rely more on these ads than any other medium such as the internet becuase of the newspapers local and targetted presence.

The question is although this is a positive move in trying to reduce or make it harder for illegal prostitution to flourish, will it only mean that the criminals will adapt and find new ways to effectively market the women?
