You have probably seen it how the Mafia made Las Vegas in the 1950’s through gambling, racketeering, girls and eventually drugs, but what made London?
Well since this is Punter Fuck you would be quick to guess that it came from prostitution. Back in the days of Casanova in Georgian London a labourer would earn up-to £24 a year and unsuprisingly a high-class prostitute would take home £50 a day! It is no different to what you see today, whether you are a IT consultant, doctor or whatever you have to work a 9 – 5 shift to pocket say £150 and a London escort will make that same money in an hour. The exchange of sex for money has always commanded big money from day one which allowed many of these women to live a life of luxury.
However just like any industry not all the prostitutes made this big money and some girls providing the service on the cheap. In 1792 it is estimated that prostitution was worth around about £20 million a year and that is very big money for the time. This money from the sex industry then went back into the city into financing the gorgeous building of Lonon especially in the Cvoent Garden, Soho and Marylebone areas. It is safe to say that just like Las Vegas was built on the gambling skim that London was built upon the so-called wages of sin.
In April 2001 The Independent wrote that prostitution is worth more than £770m a year, so the next time you visit an escort in London, remember they made it what it is today.

[...] If we go back in time, you will realise that it was the working girls who made parts of the UK like London what it is today. Nobody tried to do anything about what two consenting adults want to do back then and why should someone try and change things today? Secondly, we have to applause Harriet Harmen on one thing and that is to erradicate the use of trafficked women in this industry and she should concentrate her efforts on eliminating this before it enters our UK borders. Lastly, she seems to be on another planet when it comes to what women are able to achieve in Britain and she tries to portray them as people who are very vulnerable. Just like men, all women in todays society have a chance to be successful and I do not think that prostitution is the first thing that comes to every womans mind. [...]
